Our Leader’s Story: Strengthening the Roots of Leadership
I’ve been deeply curious about one question for 25 years: What actually helps people thrive? My journey started as a clinical therapist helping people navigate their deepest personal and professional challenges. I learned then what I still believe now—the “human edge” is the single most valuable asset you can cultivate at any age, whether you’re mastering self-leadership or empowering others in a living room, a classroom, or a boardroom. The “human edge” is the collection of psychological and social skills that allow a person to out-perform their environment, regardless of their technical knowledge or academic standing.
From High–Stakes Strategy to the Home Front
My clinical foundation led me into the public and private sectors, where I’ve spent two decades as a leadership strategist, training advisor, and leadership and executive coach. I’ve had the privilege of training elite teams and advising senior officials on human performance, leadership behaviors, and the psychological profiling that defines high-performing team dynamics. My work in these high-stakes environments is the ultimate proving ground for the research-backed development topics I now share with people of all ages.
I’ve also taken that same strategic lens to my role as a homeschooling educator. Education underscores how leadership isn’t just a corporate buzzword—it’s a set of life skills necessary to thrive and live authentically at every age. The same strategies I use to optimize executive performance help a child build confidence, a teenager create a healthier, more supportive “ecosystem,” or a young adult branch out for the first time at college or in a new job. Leadership is everywhere and all the time.
